Anderson Pinkney Darby is the father of the Darby boys in the pictures.  He married Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Anderson.   She was the daughter of Richard Anderson and Cynthia Emeline Matlock.  Anderson's parents were Levi Cazie Darby and Margaret McKee.  Margaret's parents were John McKee and Mary Susan Carpenter.  John's mother was Phanny Carpenter.  Mary Susan was William Wesley Carpenter's sister.  William Wesley was Grandma Martha  Jane Carpenter Gaddy's father.  So all the Denver Darby's our kinfolk.

John McKee's and Mary Susan Carpenter's daughter Sarah McKee married John Cody--who were the parents of Lee Cody who married Mary Elizabeth Betty Blevin's' who owned the Cedar Chest Collection.

Eula Darby was by second grade teacher.  She married Dewey Wendell Darby.  They had two children Gail and Terry.  Wendell was the son of Oscar (pictured above and Oscar was a son of Anderson Pinkney Darby whose mother was Margaret McKee whose mother was Mary Susan Carpenter--my Grandmother Martha Jane Carpenter's aunt!  But our kinship to Gail and Terry don't stop there.

It's complicated.   Eula Herriman Darby's father was Luther Milton Herriman.  Luther Herriman's mother was Mary Evannie Maples.  Mary Evannie Maples father was Russell Reno Maples was a half brother to my Grandmother Gertrude Maples Powell's father William Burl Maples.

So my classmate, Gail Darby, was kin to me twice through both her mother and her father.  I wish I had know then we were related.  She was always so extra nice, kind, humble--quite the opposite of me!

 When Gertrude Lee Maples was born on January 18, 1891, in Carroll County, Arkansas, her father, William, was 25 and her mother, Sarah, was 24. She married Robert Melton Powell on April 16, 1911, in Carroll County, Arkansas. They had eight children in 11 years. She died on May 20, 1972, in Green Forest, Arkansas, at the age of 81.

B and Sarah Maples sell land to school district # 47

When I went to the courthouse last week, I just happened to see this page from the county deed  books, dated 16 Nov 1908 in which W. B. Maples and Sarah Maples sell 1.5 acres of land for $40 to School District Number 47.  I thought this would be Pleasant Ridge School, but I am not sure.  I will have to look at CCHS and see which school district is # 47. The land description is the SW corner of the SW quarter of the NW quarter of Section 15, township 19 range 22 in Carroll County Arkansas.

On the map below, the green outline in Section 15 shows where the SW quarter of the NW quarter is located.
