 I was looking for something and found these photos I scanned January 24, 2012.  Our Mama was born January 24 1921, 100 years ago.  I am putting them here for safe keeping.

Meet Me at Alpena

Helen should have chose theater for her career.  When I go next weekend, we will go to the Alpena Cemetery.  Each time we lose a sibling, we return to our parents and take a photo.   There will only be three this time.  We never know how long we have to share with our loved ones.  When we snap the photo, Helen says will you please "smile".   Fleta and I are solemn folks.  It's hard to smile when you are at a graveyard.   I know Baby Brother is in a better place, but I am here and I wish he were too.  Sister Helen has developed asthma just like my brother Richard did.   Some days are not good and yesterday was one of those.  I told her to please do the breathing treatments.  She laughs and I know she is smiling.   I will be better when I can visit the home place.

This was when Sister Patsy passed.

Gilbert Powell 1961~2021

 Gilbert Melton Powell, age 60 of Omaha, Arkansas, passed away at home on Tuesday, August 3, 2021.  The son of Gilbert Willis Powell and Hazel Gaddy Powell, he was born in Harrison, Arkansas on July 13, 1961.  He was raised in Green Forest and has been a resident of Omaha for the past 40 years.  He worked in the Engineering Department at Big Cedar for over 10 years.

Gilbert enjoyed coon and deer hunting, fishing, grilling, woodworking and weight lifting.  He also enjoyed farming.  He was a faithful and kind father, brother and son.  He was always ready to help someone in need.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and four siblings, Richard Powell, Patsy Poor, Clayton Powell and Debbie Powell.  Gilbert is survived by his children, Willis (Tabitha) Powell of Omaha and Julie (Justin) Smith of Everton; his grandchildren, Alyssa Powell, Brookelynn Powell, Kalub Anderson, Kyle Smith and Braxton Smith; three sisters, Fleta Aday of Green Forest, Betty Renfroe of Pottsville and Helen Powell See of Green Forest; his nephew Kelly Poor; close friends, Derrick Jackson and Doug Reed and a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, friends and his Big Cedar work family.

Funeral service will be at 2 PM, Friday, August 6, 2021 at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Harrison with Bro. Bob Jackson officiating.  Private burial will be in Alpena Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday, beginning at 1 PM.  Pallbearers are Willis Powell, Justin Smith, JR Aday, Braxton Smith, Derrick Jackson and Kelly Poor.  Honorary Pallbearer is Doug Reed.
