Star Progress, 9 July 1909 Gertie Maples teacher at Black Oak School, Melton Powell Moore School. Dan Norton said that Eva Bell Meek told him that the cemetery in my neighbors field was known as Black Oak Cemetery and when she was a child there was a school name Black Oak School just a short distance away towards her house.

Her husband George Gaddy, Ora Gaddy's brother died in 1908. She married James Metz in 1916 to become the Annie Metz that was our mother's friend at Denver.
