Joe B. Powell is 85 and my Dad's first cousin. His mother, Una Coxsey was a cousin to my Grandmother Gertrude Maples. Grandma's mother was Sarah Lou Coxsey. Buster (Joe B.) agreed to spit into a tube for the Three Sisters for the Ancestry DNA study. We are excited. As Buster's test is of one older generation and we will get Coxsey cousins as well as our Powells. Sister Fleta found this photo of Buster in the Green Forest Tribune. I will post it below. Buster is the older gentleman in the red coat.
When I looked him up and asked if he would let me have his DNA, someone named Eddie answered the phone and Buster said "Eddie helped him". Well, this Sister thought it was like home health and visualized Buster fading fast, but Eddie helps on the farm Sister Fleta discovered. She had a hard time getting Buster on the phone after I sent the test to Carroll County. Well, come to find out Buster was busy hauling hay. I forget the amount of hay he put up, but it was a lot. He is a little hard of hearing, but he is also a Powell and sometimes just does not answer the phone. Sister Fleta drove out to see if he were home one day after work. She opened the screen door to knock...and the inside door opened when she rapped on it. But Buster was not inside. The door being open for all we both chuckled was another Powell DNA trait.
Thanks, Buster Powell, for spitting at the Three Sisters!
Sister Fleta snapped this picture of Buster and his brother, John, visiting churches where their father, Jesse Powell, preached. Jesse was also once County Judge of Carroll County, AR
